What is ORBS?

ORBS stands for oncoplastic reconstructive breast surgery. It’s the application of plastic surgery techniques to the breast. Because of this breast-preserving surgery, many women can have the choice of avoiding a mastectomy and getting a result that looks good and helps them embrace the future with confidence. The pioneering ORBS work is led by Mr McCulley and Mr Macmillan at the Nottingham Breast Institute and the development of their innovative work relies on charitable donations.

ORBS Calendar

Show-stopping success!

2008 saw the launch of a project that was close to our hearts.

It was during 2008 that we had the idea of creating a unique calendar. The target was to use the calendar to raise much-needed funds for a research nurse at The Nottingham Breast Institute.

Myself and Jayne Mayled, Jupiter’s MD, developed the idea together and then a small team at Jupiter set to work...

We gathered a group of women together - contacts of mine who had experienced breast cancer and who had come through it with an amazing zest for life and fearless confidence. At that meeting, each woman shared their personal journey - their hopes, dreams and ambitions. These very personal insights gave Jupiter's Creative Director Lorna Milligan and photographer Adam Shaw the inspiration and ideas to create each individual shot.

Each concept came to life through drawings, images and language that set the scene and helped to build a picture for the type of locations, props and clothing we wanted. Slowly but surely the calendar came to life, and the idea of holding an exhibition to further raise awareness and funds was born.

The launch event was a huge success, with over 100 clients, suppliers, friends and family coming along to support ORBS. To see photos from the launch night visit the ORBS gallery.

Thank you so much to everyone who was involved and to everyone who kindly donated their time, expertise or money.

Here's to making the £10,000 target! You can donate online at Justgiving.
